The love of color and line began for me as a child .I was constantly using paints and crayons
observing how to manipulate color and line to make beautiful patterns. Having grown up in the
Southern United States in a big city and having family that had farms gave me a varied view of
my place. I have a BS degree in Geography and Secondary Education with a minor in Cartography.
As part of my degree I studied Greek and Roman Art and Architecture, and Archaeology in Rome,
Italy. This experience gave me first hand view of some of the world's most wonderful art. I began my
love of painting and have traveled this road for 30 years continuing to take classes at local colleges
and with many great American Artists. My home turf is now the Low Country of South Carolina and
again place gives me a passion to paint.

Through our senses we each take in the story of our time, our people, and our place in this world.
Like Michelangelo's painting of the Sistine Chapel, God's hand touches us, and we in turn put our hand
to canvas and paper to create. For me, the interpretations of how God's creation touches me is a constant.
I see a marsh or a scene with a child that has the sun shining in their hair or around a leaf or lighting up
the marsh grasses, and I just have to paint this scene as a memory in time and place. My mind begins to
work on the problems of putting this story in the visual--what medium to use; what colors to use; how to
compose this setting to convey the majesty of this moment, this feeling, this beauty. To create a painting
is a validation of life and all that is beautiful in life. It is as much a growth process for me in each painting I do
and hopefully a gift to someone else of a story that touches them as well. I strive for just enough of realism
to set the scene, but leave enough of the story for you to compose for yourself. Enjoy!!
